Overview
Uganda's two signature primate experiences meet in this 6-day itinerary: gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest. It makes a complete primate-focused trip covering both of the country's most sought-after encounters.
On gorilla trekking days you hike a variable distance through dense forest to reach a habituated family, then spend a regulated hour observing them at close range. Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale has a different pace and terrain, through forest with one of the highest primate densities in Africa.
Both experiences are popular, so we recommend booking with reasonable lead time to secure permits for your preferred dates.
Our gorilla tracking guide is a good starting point, or contact us to check permit availability for both parks.
