Overview
Rwanda gorilla trekking meets a proper Tanzania safari on this 11-day itinerary, giving you two distinct wildlife experiences in one trip, linked by a short regional flight between Kigali and Kilimanjaro.
In Rwanda you trek in Volcanoes National Park, a closely regulated forest hike that ends with an hour spent beside a habituated gorilla family. The trip then continues to Tanzania's Northern Circuit for classic open-plains safari, a very different pace and landscape from the dense Rwandan forest.
Rwanda's gorilla permits are limited and should be secured well in advance, so it's best to plan this itinerary with a solid lead time before your travel dates.
Our Rwanda-Tanzania combo guide explains how the two fit together, and you can contact us to check permit availability.
