Getting to Tanzania from Canada: Flights, Visas and Trip Planning
How to plan a Tanzania safari from Canada: flights, visa rules and logistics
Canada has no direct flight to Tanzania, so you will route through a European or Gulf hub. Amsterdam, Doha and similar connections are the most common ways to reach Kilimanjaro International Airport. From most Canadian cities, expect a seriously long day of travel.
For Canadian passport holders, an e-Visa applied for well before departure is the most dependable option, because it takes one variable out of an already long journey. With that much travel time, we usually suggest Canadian travelers plan on 10 nights or more. That length makes the distance worthwhile, whereas squeezing a safari into a shorter window leaves a disproportionate share of your trip spent in transit.
Staying longer also makes some combinations realistic. A full Northern Circuit safari paired with a Kilimanjaro climb, or an extension onto Zanzibar afterward, both make good sense once you've committed to the travel time anyway.
