Few pairings feel as natural in Tanzania as a Serengeti safari followed by Zanzibar, and the logistics are simple. A flight of roughly an hour and a half takes you from Kilimanjaro or Arusha straight to Zanzibar, so you skip the tiring drive back across the mainland.
Typically travelers tack on 3 to 4 nights in Zanzibar after the safari ends. This is intentional: early starts and long game-drive days leave you needing to unwind, and a beach stay lets you do that before heading home in a rush.
A useful tip: use one operator for both halves of the trip. With a single team arranging the flights and pickups, you avoid awkward transfer gaps between safari and beach, which can happen when two separate bookings don't communicate.
