Plan on at least 3 full days if you go to the Serengeti. Three days lets you sample the central part of the park and get a feel for it, but it won't let you properly follow the migration or add much more than the core experience. Stretch the stay to 5 to 7 days and you have more room to maneuver. You can fit in the Ngorongoro Crater, or base yourself where the migration is during your dates, instead of simply passing through the Serengeti at large. An itinerary of 8 days or more works for travelers who want to explore several Northern Circuit parks in depth, or to add a Kenya extension so they can follow the migration over the border. For a sense of what is realistic at each length, check our day-by-day itinerary guides. Browse our safari itineraries, or contact us to find the right length for your trip.
