Affordable Camps in the Northern Circuit
Affordable Camps in the Northern Circuit
What to look for, and how to pick the right property for your journey
Budget accommodation in the Northern Circuit falls broadly into two types, and knowing the difference helps you set the right expectations. Public campsites inside the parks cost the least of all, and they're typically part of a mobile camping safari instead of being booked as a standalone stay.
The other main option is budget lodges just outside the park gates. They usually cost less than comparable in-park properties while still letting you enter the park early each morning, a practical compromise between cost and convenience.
Shared facilities are more common at this end of the market than at mid-range or luxury properties, so it's best to expect that before you arrive rather than be surprised by it. For the right traveler the savings easily justify the trade-off. Our budget safari cost guide shows the bigger financial picture.
